Andrew Couzens (left) will be “Everesting” on Friday, Aug. 12 on the Gibsons bypass to raise money for this year’s Ride to Conquer Cancer.
Everesting is where a person rides their bike to an elevation gain of 8,848m in a single run. Couzens will be starting in the late afternoon and completing 54 laps – he’s shooting for an even 10,000m – taking approximately 18 to 22 hours to complete and ending at Persephone Brewing when it opens at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Couzen’s mom was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer last April. He said he wanted to do something positive and to raise money for a cancer charity.
