Saturday Nov. 21 – Coastal Storm FC U11 Boys hosted the CAU Barca from Coquitlam at Cliff Gilker on a sunny, fan-filled day. It was a rematch between these two teams, the first game of the season back in September when we won 2-0.
The energy was there and the skills came out of hiding to make it a fantastic day of soccer for all. The boys blasted through the game, trying everything in their arsenal, including Ben Walker’s patented net bound slam that started the game off oh-so-nicely, 1-0.
After more coordinated play and some close calls blocked by our fearless goalkeeper Hayden van der Stelt, Samuel Uwa swiftly made his way in front to slide in a light touch goal, literally rolling the ball past the keeper after a slide, 2-0.
As the Storm remembered to support each other and pass quickly it was all Barca could do to keep up with our boys. Max Joe received a great pass combo from his team in the back field and launched his awesome attack and introduced the ball to the net forcefully, making it 3-0.
The fans were speechless and cheering for more full throttle soccer as Taiyo Blackwell left footed a gem into the middle where Max tapped it one-touch style to Samuel where he was positioned to power it through the mosh pit for the final 4-0 score.
The Storm made the rematch another one for the win column, played hard the entire game and grew as a team.
