Hours of hard work and training paid off on Saturday, March 21 when students from the Shotokan Karate Club placed in almost every division at the International Shotokan Karate Federation provincial tournament.
A total of 15 competitors from the Coast club competed, displaying excellent decorum and fantastic sportsmanship on all levels. The club showed the determination and spirit that is at the heart of Shotokan karate.
Results included:
Jack Soos Donnahee: silver for mixed 5-6 white belt kata
Scarlett McLash: gold for girls 9-12 beginner kumite and bronze for junior team kata
Tristan Glowacki: bronze for junior team kata
Myles Davis: bronze for junior team kata
Margaret Dickie: silver for girls 11-15 intermediate kumite and gold for junior team kata
Madison Welch: bronze for girls 11-15 intermediate kumite, bronze for girls 11-15 intermediate kata and gold for junior team kata
Clayton Burrows: bronze for boys 10-11 intermediate kumite, bronze for boys 10-11 intermediate kata and gold for junior team kata
Andrew Villanueva: gold for boys 12-15 intermediate kumite and silver for boys 12-15 intermediate kata Joe Wilson: bronze for boys 12-15 intermediate kata
Alex Phillips: bronze for boys 12-15 beginner kumite and bronze for boys 12-15 beginner kata
Natalie Ingram: silver for women’s intermediate kata
