Gibsons’ Angela Canterutti will headline the Sunshine Coast Boxing Club’s (SCBC) War on the Shore 5 amateur boxing event Saturday, April 1 at the Gibsons and Area Community Centre.
Canterutti’s opponent is Victoria featherweight Terris Smith. This fight will be a rubber match as the women each own a win over the other.
Commenting on the matchup, SCBC founder Rick Shannon remarked that Canterutti has earned her place in the main event due to her work ethic and continuous improvement under the tutelage of coach Dave Hollett.
The effervescent Canterutti is a crowd-pleasing boxer/puncher known as an aggressive high-volume puncher in contrast to the technical boxing style of the taller Terris Smith.
With the recent Bellator World MMA title win by Roberts Creek’s Julia Budd, there is a growing interest in female combat sports, so Coast fight fans should enjoy the Canterutti vs. Smith fight.
Accompanying Cant-erutti on the April 1 card will be a number of SCBC boxers and opponents from Burnaby, Victoria and Kelowna
Tickets are $20 with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and boxing at 7 p.m.
Kids under 12 years have free admission to this alcohol-free, family-friendly amateur boxing event.
