The puck is ready to drop at the Gibsons & Area Community Centre on Saturday, Oct. 16 for the BC Elite Hockey League – and spectators are invited.

The North Island Silvertips and Northwest Hawks will face off in the U15 AAA zone game starting at 4:45 p.m.

The Hawks represent eight minor hockey associations, including the Sunshine Coast Minor Hockey Association.

Spectators will be able to watch the game in person with proof of vaccination and a valid ID for those 12 and older. Access will be through the community centre’s upper entrance, and there will be a maximum capacity of 145 people.

“We are very pleased to be able to host events like this to showcase our community to the provincial elite program and allow our hometown crowd to cheer on the local zone team athletes,” a press release from the Sunshine Coast Minor Hockey Association said.

The BCEHL, formerly known as BC Hockey’s AAA league, includes 35 teams and 680 athletes from across the province.
