Tennis enthusiasts of all levels enjoyed the 41st Annual Sunshine Coast Open tennis tournament, held on the first weekend in August with lots of exciting competition.
A total of 39 competitors played in the five main draws. Some came from Victoria, Powell River and several Lower Mainland tennis clubs.
Spectators watched from under the shady trees at Dougall Park and in the sun at the Parkland Courts. In Roberts Creek, spectators and players alike enjoyed a Wimbledon-like day on a private grass tennis court.
Players and guests topped off a weekend of camaraderie with a backyard barbecue on the grass in Roberts Creek. This player event social at “Crumbledon” was highlighted with an outstanding salmon dinner.
Kudos to local Stuart Flockhart for donating the freshly caught spring salmon and to Andrew Flockhart Photography for taking the photos throughout the event, as well as to the generous sponsors and to the tournament committee for making this annual community event possible.
