The annual Terry Fox Run to raise funds for cancer research is going into its 35th year on Sept. 20.

The run starts at 8 a.m. at the Gibsons and Area Community Centre. Start time is 9:30 a.m. after a warm up with Jacquie Allen.

Terrance Stanley “Terry” Fox (July 28, 1958 – June 28, 1981) was a Canadian athlete and cancer activist. Fox made a cross country trek with one amputated leg in 1980 to raise awareness and money for cancer research.

Fox made it over 5,000 km in 143 days but his cancer forced him to stop, and took his life soon after.

Come out on Sept. 20 to run, walk, bike, skateboard – or anything else you want – and participate in the one, three, five or 10 km run. There are no time clocks and there’s no pressure. Donations are welcome.
