School shut down after break-in

Students and staff at Cedar Grove Elementary School got an unexpected day off Wednesday, Jan. 13, after a break-in forced a one-day closure of the school. Sunshine Coast RCMP responded to an alarm call at the school in Gibsons at 2:30 a.m.

Weekly police report

Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Jan. 4 to 11: Early on Jan. 4, a thief broke into a business in the 5600 block of Cowrie Street. Entry was gained through a small rear window after the thief pried off the security bars.

Rescue turns out to be false alarm

It turned out to be a false alarm, but for a short time on Saturday, Jan. 9, emergency personnel were on high alert in a joint rescue operation in Davis Bay. Around 10:30 a.m.

Coast left with no sitting judge

Court dates scheduled for the provincial court in Sechelt could take a lot longer to get for criminal, family and civil matters, as there is now no permanent sitting judge on the Sunshine Coast.

Feds fund water-conservation system
