Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for April 8 to 15:
• On April 8, police received information about a large pile of debris that was illegally dumped near Trout Lake Road. A possible suspect has been identified and the matter has been referred to the Conservation Officer Service.
• Sometime between April 1 and 8, a thief broke a window to gain entry into a storage building at Keats Camp on Keats Island. The thief stole a box of chocolate bars and three camp hoodies. Also taken around the same period was a white 16-foot Clipper canoe, but the canoe was recovered at the Gibsons government dock.
• Between April 7 and 8, a alleged shoplifter was caught on surveillance tape at a business in the 5700 block of Cowrie Street in Sechelt. The suspect, described as a South Asian male, had a short beard and mustache, glasses, dark hair and was approximately six feet tall and about 240 pounds. The suspect wore light coloured sweat pants and a dark jacket with a lighter coloured logo on the left side of the chest. In both instances, the suspect put various items in a cloth bag and left the premises without paying.

• On April 9, a witness reported an elderly male driving very slowly in the 5700 block of Teredo Street in Sechelt. Police located the driver and upon questioning, the driver advised he did not know where he was going or why he was driving. After noticeable difficulty parking his vehicle, the male was transported to hospital for assessment. A driver's licence review request has been sent to the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles.
• Between late March and April 10, thieves broke into to a residence in the 6200 block of Sechelt Inlet Road. The point of entry appears to have been a possible insecure window in the garage. The thieves also cut a hole in the garage door to pass through a number of larger items without having to open the garage door.
The thieves stole three, white Ikea ceiling fans and approximately 10 wedge shaped stair treads used for a spiral staircase.
• Overnight on April 10, a thief gained entry through an unlocked window to a storage area at a business in the 600 block of School Road in Gibsons and stole a number of frozen food items including duck breasts, rack of lamb, meatballs and shrimp.
The thief also appears to have stolen a black vinyl podium cover, possibly to carry away the frozen goods.
• On April 12, a break and enter occurred in the 800 block of Cemetary Road.
The suspect appears to have gained entry through an unlocked door and completely ransacked the property, breaking windows and throwing the contents out into the yard. Nothing actually appears to have been stolen. The file is still under investigation.
• On April 12, while enforcing speeds in a playground zone in Roberts Creek, police witnessed a passenger in a vehicle lean out the window while firing an object out of a slingshot. The vehicle was pulled over and the passenger presented a wooden slingshot and a tube of green paintballs. The passenger was advised of the dangers and legal ramifications of his actions and the items were seized. The passenger was also issued a violation ticket for fail to change address on his driver's licence.
• Overnight on April 14, a thief stole a 2001 blue and white Yamaha YZ dirt bike from an address in the 1400 block of Highway 101. The bike was low on gas and would have had to be rolled or transported away. The file is still under investigation.
• On April 14, a passerby reported finding a cage with a guinea pig inside abandoned underneath the power lines on Reservoir Road in Selma Park. Police attended and located the cage and a loose guinea pig nearby. The guinea pig was corralled back into its cage and taken to the SPCA.
