That was shady: Man steals $15K in sunglasses from B.C. shop

Thief who broke into an optical store in Gibsons just after 4:30 a.m. June 1, grabbed approximately $15,000 worth of sunglasses.
While 1980’s Canadian rocker Corey Hart sang about the virtues of ‘sunglasses at night’, the Sunshine Coast RCMP is seeking help identifying a male that took that message one step too far by breaking into an optical store in Gibsons on June 1, at approximately 4:40 a.m.

Stolen during that incident was approximately $15,000 worth of sunglasses, primarily Oakley brand.

Surveillance video for the store, located in the 1100 block of Sunshine Coast Highway, shows the suspect smashing the glass front door to gain entrance. He was wearing a dark grey or black jacket (although it appears white in the photos), dark pants and was carrying a reusable shopping bag. The male appears to be of average build and is approximately 5'8", wears glasses and possibly has a moustache.

If members of the public have any information that would assist police in identifying this thief please call the Sunshine Coast RCMP at 604-885-2266 or email [email protected], and refer to File #2022-3663.
