The Women's International League of Peace and Freedom (WILPF) on the Sunshine Coast is hosting the second annual Reclaiming Mothers' Day for Peace celebration on Sunday, May 10 at Gibsons United Church.

The original proclamation for Mothers' Day, written by Julia Ward in 1870, called on mothers around the world to work together for peace so that, "We, the women of one country, will be too tender of those of another country to allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs." This day of remembering and peace activism will be filled with joy and exuberance, song and inspiration.

Event organizers have invited Joanna Zilsel to share her recent experiences in Gaza where she was part of a Code Pink delegation that was able to get into the area when other envoys were denied access. The delegation brought gifts and messages of hope and solidarity to the women of the war ravaged area.
