Sunshine Coast Rapids win first provincial medal –– and it’s gold

Sunshine Coast Rapids go undefeated at provincial lacrosse tournament in Langley

The U15C Sunshine Coast Rapids Lacrosse team won the Sunshine Coast’s first ever lacrosse medal at the provincial championships last weekend in Langley –– and they brought home gold.

The Rapids were undefeated through the tournament and won the gold medal game against Ridge Meadows 10 to one.

Noah Murawsky #11, scored 15 goals over the course of the tournament, the most of any player, earning himself tournament MVP.

Among the 16 players on the team, aged 13 to 15, only five had played the sport before joining the team. And, for six of the players, this was their second provincial tournament of the year, those athletes having competed at the U15A Tier 3 Minor Hockey Provincials in Cranbrook in March (coming in an impressive fourth place).

Two former Rapids players guided the team to victory, head coach Hayden Van der Stelt and assistant coach Ryder Hudrick.
