Donations stolen from bin: Police report

Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Dec. 29 to Jan. 4.

Theft
On Dec. 29, a theft occurred at the 5600 Block of Cowrie St., Sechelt, where a suspect was seen taking items from a donation bin. A witness was able to obtain a licence plate located near the bin. Police are awaiting surveillance and the file is still under investigation.
On Jan. 4, 2022, police received a report that a large amount of gift cards had been stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 5400 block of Memmiman St. in Sechelt. Surveillance video has been obtained and the investigation is ongoing. The suspect is described as a female wearing a white puffy vest with a blue or black hoody underneath and a pink hat. Anyone with information is asked to call the RCMP.
On Jan. 4, the police received a report from someone whose licence plates were taken of their vehicle in the 5700 block of Wharf Ave, Sechelt. The file is currently under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call the RCMP and reference file 2022-65.

Fraud
On Dec. 30, a Coast resident reported suspicious activity on her Gmail, Outlook, social media accounts and banking. The resident notified her bank and was refunded the amount taken. All online account passwords were changed and the Credit Bureau was notified. Break and enter
On Jan. 4, police received a report of a break and enter to a home under construction in the 5600 block of Derby Rd. in Sechelt. Multiple tools were stolen. Police are continuing to investigate, if anyone has any information please call the RCMP.

Collision
On Dec. 30, a single-vehicle incident was discovered in the 11600 block of Sunshine Coast Hwy, Madeira Park, after a passerby reported that a vehicle had rolled down the embankment. EHS and firefighters were able to assist the occupants who were already safely out of the vehicle. The driver and passenger were transported to the hospital for minor injuries. It is believed the weather and treacherous road conditions were a factor. The matter has been referred to ICBC.

Property Found
On Dec. 30, a small change purse was turned in. The owner may claim within 90 days with a detailed description. Please reference police file 2021-8712.
