Sunshine Coast RCMP are asking for the public's help with information after a man was allegedly beaten in Gibsons Wednesday night.

RCMP received a report around 10:30 p.m. from an area resident who said he found a 44-year-old man beaten and lying in a ditch on School Road.

Police attended the scene, found the man and began their investigation.

"We're investigating an aggravated assault case," said Sgt. Danny Willis on Thursday afternoon. "We're looking for two suspects, believed to be young adults, who drove away in a burgundy low-rider car with a black stripe on the hood and trunk and a spoiler on the trunk. We're hoping the public can help us with information."

Willis said the man was taken to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, which included bleeding and bruising about the victim's body.

Willis said it's still not clear why the beating took place or if there is a connection to the victim and the suspects.

Anyone with information can contact police at 604-885-2266 or Crimestoppers at 604-740-8477.
