The revised Gospel Rock neighbourhood plan will go to public hearing on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Christ the King Community Church in Lower Gibsons.
Council set the date at the Nov. 6 regular meeting, rescinding second reading of the previous plan.
The amended plan deletes all map and text references to cluster residential development on waterfront lands within the plan area. In the face of widespread public opposition, council voted last month to cut waterfront development from the plan.
Addressing other concerns raised by the public, the new plan also spells out that "appropriate development densities will be reviewed in five years with consideration given to the aquifer capacity, road access, infrastructure maintenance costs and the financial plan."
Coun. Gerry Tretick, who had proposed the five-year density review clause, moved to proceed with the amended plan, and Coun. Dan Bouman seconded the motion. There was no discussion.
"Thank you very much, council," Mayor Wayne Rowe said.
The vote was unanimous and second reading was given.
The public hearing starts at 5:30 p.m. and the regular council meeting will follow at 7.
Council initiated the consultation process on the draft Gospel Rock plan in March 2011, referring the plan to outside agencies and organizations for input before and after holding a public information meeting the following month.
Sixteen government bodies and community groups were notified on Oct. 23 of the latest changes, but staff deemed their further input unnecessary since many were on record as opposing waterfront development.
