Police seek witnesses after motorcyclist dies in Highway 101 collision

At approximately 8:38 p.m. on Aug. 24, a motorcycle and SUV collided on Highway 101 in Halfmoon Bay.

Sunshine Coast RCMP confirmed the motorcyclist was killed in the incident. 

On Aug. 26, police issued a press release asking for any and all witnesses to the collision -- and anyone with dashboard camera video of the event or traffic beforehand -- to come forward. They are asked to contact BCHP Chilliwack at 604-702-4039 and cite file 2022-5838. Witnesses can also email their information, including video to [email protected]

The crash scene near Sutherland Road was held all night, as local responders waited for collision specialists to attend from off-Coast. BC Highway Patrol Chilliwack is investigating with the assistance of Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS). ICARS conducts forensic reconstructions of collisions in B.C. that have caused a serious injury or death.
