Sechelt’s Columbia Fuels was ranked 28 out of 30 top registered oil recycling, facilities according to non-profit BC Used Oil Management Association.

The non-profit launched a recognition program for registered Return Collection Facilities (RCF) that ensure their used oil recycling infrastructure is convenient, easy to use and environmentally friendly.

“We launched the ‘Top Collectors’ recognition program to thank the dedicated RCF operators for participating in our program, and to create enthusiasm amongst the RCF staff for doing what can sometimes be a messy job,” said executive director David Lawes.

Criteria for recognition included the total amount of used oil, oil filters, oil containers, antifreeze and antifreeze containers collected, the number of years participating in the RCF program, and demonstrated support of the oil management association and other recycling stewardship related programs.

Ridge Meadows Recycling Society, Hartland Landfill in the Capital Regional District and Jepson Petroleum Ltd. in Williams Lake placed first, second and third, respectively.
