Sunshine Coast RCMP are requesting the public's assistance for suspects following a suspected case of arson.
Around 2 a.m. on Friday morning, police and the Sechelt fire department responded to a call of a vehicle fire on the corner of Spindrift Road and Trail Avenue.
"Upon arrival, an older model Jeep Cherokee was located parked on the side of the road, fully engulfed in flames," said Const. Martin Lalande in a press release. "The fire had also spread to a nearby wooden fence. The fire was quickly extinguished. There was no report of injuries."
The vehicle was unoccupied at the time it caught fire. Investigation with the registered owner and witnesses in the area led police to suspect the fire was a random act of arson, Lalande said.
If anyone has information regarding this incident or any other crime, contact police at 604-885-2266 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
