According to the latest update from Elections BC, 8,338 voters in Powell River-Sunshine Coast have requested mail-in ballots – a significant increase over the 114 people who voted by mail in the riding in 2017. Elections BC said as of 11:59 p.m.

Green candidate Kim Darwin, 51, is making her second run for MLA, after finishing third in 2017 and coming within 100 votes of the Liberal candidate.

Sunshine Coast RCMP are seeking the public's help to solve a pair of break and enters at the Wobbly Canoe Restaurant in Davis Bay. RCMP were called out around 11:35 p.m. Oct. 15 after a report glass had been broken at restaurant.

An early-morning break-in at a clothing shop in downtown Sechelt on Oct. 16 ended in an arrest after police officers chased a suspect who fled the scene. Sunshine Coast RCMP were alerted to the break-and-enter at 5711 Cowrie St. at about 4:30 a.m.
