The Sunshine Coast reported 35 new cases of COVID-19 between Oct. 24 and 30 -- its highest number of cases since numbers became public for local health authorities last November.

This tops the previous highest new case count of 27 reported the previous week.

During the same time period, the Howe Sound area reported 43 new cases, while none were reported in Powell River.

Of the 603 total active cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 56 of those cases were new as of Nov. 3. Between January 2020 and the end of October 2021, 425 cases of COVID-19 were reported on the Sunshine Coast.

As of Wednesday, Nov. 3, 90.1 per cent of eligible British Columbians 12 and older received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Approximately 85.5 per cent received a second dose.

On the Sunshine Coast, 88 per cent of eligible residents 12 and older received their first jab of a COVID-19 vaccine by Nov. 1, and 84 per cent had both jabs.

For those 12 to 17 years old, 82 per cent had one dose and 74 per cent had two.

In the 18 to 49 years old age category, 83 per cent of Coasters had one shot and 75 per cent had both.

Of the 50-plus residents, 91 per cent had one dose and 89 per cent had both.
