Through my Canada World Youth (CWY) exchange, our environmental theme has taken centre stage as we live our lives in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Qué.

In every community across B.C., kids want a chance to play sport. Unfortunately, some families simply can't afford the registration fees for their child to play in a season of sport.

The Ice Painting Project Society hosted the first Call for Participation for Performance for Ice Gate, Saturday, Sept. 12 at St. Mary's Catholic Church auditorium in Gibsons. About 25 members of the public attended, with more than 15 signing up.

This year's Cop for Cancer is an all-male event for the Sunshine Coast. The two police officers, Const. Lance Bonds and Const. Josh Talbot riding to conquer cancer have as their inspiration this year 17-year-old buddy, Mason Gregory.

The 28th annual Terry Fox Run, which raises money for cancer research, will take place Sunday, Sept. 13, in both Roberts Creek and Gibsons. The Roberts Creek 10 km run begins at 10 a.m., starting and finishing at Roberts Creek Elementary School.
