Empty Bowls 2010, a benefit for the Sunshine Coast Food Bank, takes place on Saturday, Oct. 16, in the Roberts Creek Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Local potters are donating the bowls that will be used for a delicious and nutritious lunch of soup, bread, beverage and dessert. An adult ticket entitles you to choose your bowl, have lunch in it and then take it home with you after lunch.

Some of the Coast's most popular musicians will provide entertainment. Ken Dalgleish and the Rakish Angles will be playing, and there will be some musical surprises as well. The handmade pottery bowls are being donated by some of your favourite potters as well as potters who will be new to you. Joe from the Gumboot Restaurant is providing the soups (including vegetarian and gluten-free options), while the potters themselves are baking the desserts.

Potters in many communities hold Empty Bowl events to raise funds and to increase awareness of the needs of others. By attending Empty Bowls 2010, the Sunshine Coast's first Empty Bowl lunch, you will help fill the empty bowls of others. The bowl you take home will remind you that the Food Bank continues to need your help.

Tickets are available from Gift of the Eagle Gallery, the Roberts Creek General Store and WindSong Gallery. Adult tickets are $20. Kids tickets include only lunch and are $10, kids five and under are free. For more information, call Marilyn: 604-740-0530.
