Sweater drive a huge success

Living Faith Lutheran Church is thanking the Sunshine Coast community for its phenomenal support of the emergency sweater drive for Syrian refugees.

Living Faith Lutheran Church is thanking the Sunshine Coast community for its phenomenal support of the emergency sweater drive for Syrian refugees.

"Your compassion and resourcefulness brought close to 1,200 sweaters plus hats, scarves, mitts, socks and even a duvet to Living Faith Lutheran Church," said project spokesperson Sharon Jones. "If the rest of Canada has done the same, there is no doubt that the national goal of 10,000 sweaters will be reached many times over."

Jones said 32 boxes were packed and delivered to the Gibsons Home Hardware and put onto a truck for Winnipeg. The work at the Winnipeg warehouse has begun. "Now many hands are sorting and packaging all the sweaters prior to the December shipment," added Jones. "They have promised a few follow-ups once the container is finally packed, and after it is distributed in Jordan. We will try to keep you informed."
