July 30, 2025
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Joseph Jacquot, on July 30, 2025, after a lengthy stay at Sechelt Hospital. Joe will be fondly remembered as a devoted father, a successful businessman, and an outstanding tire salesman, as well as a loving husband to Rosalie, who predeceased him in 2023 after 58 years of marriage.
Joe’s love for cars and mechanics began in his teenage years in Burnaby. His passion for building Hot Rods set the stage for a remarkable 60-year career in the auto industry. He managed Western Accessories on Kingsway, earning numerous accolades for his work. As a side venture, Joe fine-tuned carburetors and engines for race boats and cars, honing his craft further. His expertise eventually led him to specialize in tires and wheels, working with Firestone, Pirelli Canada, Formula Distributors, Tire Town, and Ceco Distributors. In time, Joe fulfilled his dream of owning his own tire business when he and Rosalie purchased the Kal Tire in Sechelt. They both loved the work, and Joe especially enjoyed greeting customers, sharing stories, and helping people with their tire and wheel needs. Joe and Rosalie worked together at Kal Tire for 30 years, taking great pride in the business. He was comforted knowing it would continue after he was gone.
Outside of work, Joe was an avid fisherman. He and Rosalie introduced their family to the Sunshine Coast in 1978 when they bought a small cabin at Gower Point. Joe often carried his tin boat on his back to the water’s edge, where many salmon were caught. The family has cherished memories of those times at Gower Point, fishing and enjoying the Sundown cabin.
Joe had a particular love for drag racing. He bought a Pinto race car for the Kal Tire team, creating many happy memories at drag strips across the coast and BC. His love of racing was matched only by his enjoyment of cruising in his 1932 Ford Roadster with Rosalie, discovering new eateries on sunny afternoons.
"Dad/Grandfather" will be deeply missed by his three children, Angela (Steve), Tracey (Dave), and Fred (Kait), as well as his grandchildren, Alex, Grace, Jesse, Tierra, and Kodi. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Jenna in 2025. Wherever you are now, Dad, we hope you are pain-free, reunited with Mom and Jenna, and living your best life—perhaps with another “Miss Walter” on the end of your fishing rod. Rest well. We love you.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Sechelt Hospital Foundation. A Celebration of Life for Joe and Rosalie Jacquot will be held at a later date. Details will be announced.
