More than 250 visitors attended this year's Salmon Festival at Chapman Creek Hatchery in Sechelt.
The festival, held in honour of Rivers Day, was held last Saturday, Oct 12 and hosted by the Sunshine Coast Salmonid Enhancement Society, which operates the community hatchery.
Visitors toured the hatchery facility, witnessed some of the hatchery's activities, including fin clipping to mark cutthroat trout as hatchery-raised fish.
Cutthroat are released by the society into lakes on the Coast at catchable length. The viewing platform provided visitors with an opportunity to see salmon returning to Chapman Creek.
This year Chapman Creek has seen excellent returns of both pink and coho salmon. Anglers fishing the creek report some of the best fishing in years.
