An incredibly special event of the summer takes place tomorrow, Saturday, July 19: the Gunboat Bay Blues on the Water. Live music with Peter van Deursen and his band will begin at approximately 3 p.m. (rain or shine) on the host’s dock on the north shore of Gunboat Bay. All are welcome to join from your own dock or on your boat anchored in the Bay. Enjoy, and please be responsible. On July 27, Simon Gidora and Isabella Perron –– Duo Mycelia –– will present Classical Summer Serenade at a very pleasing afternoon concert at 2:30 p.m. at the School of Music. Enjoy world-class classical music performed by our young local virtuosi. Tickets $30 cash at the door.

Rotary Rocks 50/50 Draw has July’s proceeds going to ‘Raise The Roof” campaign for a new roof for the Pender Harbour Community Hall. Conversations In The Woods For seniors back by popular demand, with a twist Aug.15 and Sept.16 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Tyner Park. The Rotary Club of Pender Harbour’s 20th Annual Show & Shine is Sunday, Aug. 10 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 112 in Madeira Park. This People’s Choice Car Show puts you in the driver’s seat — you vote for the winners! Bring the whole family and enjoy a spectacular display of cars, trucks and motorcycles on a beautiful grassy field. Live music, tasty food, 50/50 draw and the Legion’s famous Meat Draw at 3 p.m.! Registration is at 9:30 a.m. ($30 entry fee). Show time is 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ballot cut-off is 2 p.m. Info line is 604-989-7811.

The Pender Harbour Wooden Boat Festival is a weekend event, Aug. 8 to 10 at the Madeira Park Government Wharf. Enjoy a celebration of maritime heritage, featuring wooden boats, live music, local food and historical exhibits.

Golfers this one is for you! Royal Canadian Legion Branch #112 will host its annual golf tournament on Saturday, Aug.16, starting at 2 p.m. The playing format is a modified Texas Scramble. Entry is $75 per person, which includes golf, appies, dinner and prizes. Everyone receives a prize! Power carts are not included in the entry fee. Registrations are accepted at the Legion for golf and dinner while Power Carts must be rented at the golf course.”
