December 14, 1926 - March 25, 2024

Passed away peacefully in the presence of her children. On her own terms.

Survived by her children Donald Gordon, Michael David, Kenneth Andrew, and grandchildren Megan Rose, Ian Cole, and Logan Bollard. Predeceased by her husband Donald Forbes Rutledge, sister Nancy,  brother Keith, and granddaughter Emily.

Marilyn was born in Montreal to Gordon Miller and Edith Miller (Babcock) and had fond memories of her close-knit family, siblings, grandparents, aunts, great-aunts and uncles. Spending time on Dorval Island, QC and Morrisburg, ON and later skiing in Saint-Sauveur, QC, where she met her future husband. She graduated in Education from MacDonald College and taught elementary school until she and Don married in 1952, moved west, and settled in Vancouver.

Through the 1960's and 1970's Marilyn raised her three boys, took care of the family, and attended arts classes whenever possible. Marilyn and Don retired to Roberts Creek on the Sunshine Coast in 1982 where she was involved in the arts community and made many close friends. Her oil paintings and pencil drawings were frequently featured at coast arts events and even Provincial shows. Her work sold at the Hunter Gallery in Gibsons Landing where she volunteered for several years.

Marilyn and Don later moved to Sechelt where they lived until Don died in 2013. In 2014 Marilyn moved to Surrey to be closer to family. Living first at Crescent Gardens where more friendships were made, and then at Morgan Place. Thanks to both facilities.

No service by request. In lieu of flowers she suggests a donation to the Sechelt Hospital Foundation.
