Our dear JJ, passed away on May 23, 2023, after a short battle with cancer. JJ lived his last days at home, surrounded by love and the care of his family.
JJ was originally from Mont-Saint-Hilaire in Québec where he had many rural travels before moving to B.C. He arrived on the Sunshine Coast in 1990 and quickly made a home amongst the people who welcomed him. No matter where he lived, he was always involved in building community, creating connections and living intentionally close to nature. JJ was a creator, a musician, a gardener, a stained-glass artist, a carpenter, a lover, a father, and a cherished friend to many. JJ will be remembered as a person of free spirit, will, and optimism who kept spirituality and alternative living as values close to his heart.
He is survived by his children, Renée and Daniel, his granddaughter Adélie, and his great-granddaughter Chloé. His family hopes that his next journey will be the greatest one yet and wishes him “bon voyage”.
A celebration of life in JJ’s honor will be held at Cooper’s Green Hall on June 10th from 1pm-4pm; open mic, potluck and music.
