January 1, 1938 - January 16, 2024

Born in England, Ian Ridgway at age 86, peacefully left for a new realm on January 16, 2024, surrounded by love, family, and friends. He will be immeasurably missed by his wife Pat of 47 years. His daughters Galen and Heidi and son Jason, three granddaughters, three great-grandkids, and many nieces and nephews, as well as his family in England and Europe will miss him dearly. Sadly, Ian was predeceased by his daughter Clea, and brother Keith.

Renowned for his carpenter skills during the Counterculture years in Vancouver, he worked with several artists and was involved with events such as the Pleasure Faires, Habitat Forum, Paradise Bowl and many others. He mentored and inspired many future carpenters. You can read more of his amazing life story in his book ‘A Carpenter’s Tale’.

A guitar player himself, he also built many stages for well-known performers and musical shows including 10 Earth Day stages in Roberts Creek.

Ian will be fondly remembered for his extensive and creative carpentry work and his generous volunteer projects during his 33 years living on the Sunshine Coast.

Much appreciation to Sechelt Hospital, and all the doctors, caregivers, and friends who helped Ian in his last few years.

A Celebration of Ian's Life will be announced in the future.
