Our beloved father, husband, Opa, left us on February 1, 2024. Born in Brake, Germany, Hajo was a teacher until emigrating to Canada in 1960, where he worked for the CBC as a film editor. Followed by his wife, Else, and daughters Sabine and Uli, they settled in Dundarave where he built boats in the back yard. His third, Nausikáa III, a 57' ketch, was launched off Dundarave Pier. In 1975, Hajo and Else sailed her to Hawaii and Tahiti. The marriage ended. Hajo moved to Steveston where he met, and in 1986, married Presita, his love and life partner. They relocated to Sechelt with their son Jason. Hajo continued writing and translating books, practicing Shiatsu, and teaching Celestial Navigation. He was most proud of his book, 'Medicinal Mushrooms You Can Grow', written on the Sunshine Coast. He will be remembered as a man who touched us all with his vision, knowledge, and passion.

Hajo is survived by his wife, Presita Cariaga, children Sabine Shaw (David), Uli Hadeler, Jason Hadeler (Katherine) and Krystal Gabriel, sister Liane Zu Klampen and brother Tammo Hadeler, grandchildren Teila Feinsilver (Joe), Kira Mahoney, Rigel Shaw, Zoë Hadeler Lund (Connor), great-grandson Vern Feinsilver. Remembered by Lawrence Mahoney, the Epps family, and many more.
