Murder at the library, in six languages

Sechelt Public Library

Experience the best of European crime and mystery drama, from six countries, at the Sechelt Public Library.

Through a generous donation from the Friends of the Sechelt Library, 216 DVDs of 21 award-winning television drama series, many based on novels of best-selling crime authors, are being added to the borrowing collection.

“It began with a donation of two Inspector Brunetti DVDs, based on the popular novels written by Andrea Camillieri,” said chief librarian Margaret Hodgins. “The feedback from the public was immediate — they wanted more! I think people really enjoy seeing their favourite novels reinterpreted for screen, and European drama is becoming increasingly appreciated.”

The Friends of the Sechelt Library enthusiastically jumped in to support this special purchase and create a unique collection of Eurodrama not available elsewhere on the Sunshine Coast.

“Drama is part of the fiction genre and often creates renewed interest in the books and authors that the series are based on,” noted Hodgins.

The collection is being catalogued over the next few weeks and each week new titles will be available for loan.
