Last Saturday, June 22, Coast residents were treated to a night of delicious food, great music and side-splitting comedy in support of an important cause at Boomers Burger Bar in Gibsons.

Tim Steinruck and Thilo 'Many Bears' Mehrhoff of the group B.E.A.R. performed music embracing a message of respect for our earth and its animals and the need to work together as one community to create a better world. Comedian Curran Dobbs from Victoria was on hand offering sharp and humorous insights into his journey and observations of what it's like to be autistic.

Singer/songwriter Jabulile Dladla, recently arrived from South Africa, added an international flair to the evening with her original and powerful lyrics and music. Dladla, better known as Jabu, was a member of the internationally acclaimed Official Soweto Gospel Choir before moving to the Sunshine Coast.

Local artist Dave Philly with his soft melodic vocals and blues guitarist Gordon Cole rounded out a great night of musical entertainment.

The organizers of the International Naturally Autistic People (INAP) Awards Convention and Festival would also like to thank Wayne Skinner for his often funny and take charge performance as official auctioneer, and special guests professor Steven Formaneck of the American University in Egypt (Cairo) and Autism Meet-Up leader Peter Cunnington of Victoria - both on the autistic spectrum. These gentlemen are exemplary role models for autistic people everywhere.

Special shout out to Coast Reporter for their ongoing support of our community enriching events!
