KidSport Sunshine Coast is thrilled to have the continued support of Sunshine Coast Lions Club.
The Lions partnered with KidSport four years ago and since that time have made a commitment to sponsor Sechelt and area youth in any B.C. recognized sport of the childs choice. To date they have donated $19,600 supporting 143 kids to participate in a sport. None of these children would have been able to participate in their chosen sport without financial support.
At the recent meeting of Sunshine Coast Lions Club, the KidSport committee presented the Lions with a community championship certificate, commending them on their community support. Community champions are organizations or individuals who contribute $2,000 or more a year to benefit youth.
All money received from the Sunshine Coast Lions Club goes directly to the children on the Coast.
We have been able to help many, many kids because of the generosity of the Sunshine Coast Lions, said KidSport co-chair Carol Duff.
Diane Wagner, co-chair, added, The Lions' weekly meat raffles raise money in the community for organizations such as KidSport. These members are dedicated in their cause to help our youth, and we thank the community for supporting them at their events.
Newly appointed members to the KidSport Sunshine Coast Chapter are Brent Rottluff, Christen Redford and Kelsey Dunn. These individuals have been a tremendous support to KidSport and are now are on the board as directors. The principals of School District No. 46 schools continue to act as adjudicators.
All sport organizations and schools on the Sunshine Coast have application forms to apply for funding which are then submitted to a school principal for approval. To date, KidSport Sunshine Coast has not turned a child away, thanks to the support of organizations such as Sunshine Coast Lions Club.
