There’s very exciting news this week from Ruby Lake Lagoon Society announcing the PODS Enterprise, (Pender Ocean Discovery Station). They intend to build a new state-of-the-art $10 million facility by 2020, located in the heart of Madeira Park that will include marine research labs, a large conference facility, and an underground aquarium. It’s time again for the Pender Harbour Reading Centre’s annual Bucks for Books fundraising campaign. The Centre has operated, staffed entirely by volunteers, for an amazing 49 years. Continued community support is needed and much appreciated. All donations to Bucks for Books are used to purchase books for the Centre’s collection.

On Oct. 27, PH Women’s Connection Barb McAllister presents Energy Medicine. Barb is a registered nurse who has practised for over 25 years and has trained as a Reiki master/teacher, certified healing touch practitioner and certified reflexologist. She has also learned healing techniques using sound with the aid of tuning forks and Tibetan bowls. Hear her speak at 10 a.m. at the School of Music in Madeira Park. The Pender Harbour Community School has a wonderful offering this fall. Harbour Ukulele Group Strummers (HUGS) meet Tuesdays from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Community School. All ages and levels are welcome.
