Harbour-Egmont Highlights: Enjoy the Small Glories this weekend

The Pender Harbour Music Society presents The Small Glories this Sunday, Feb. 26, 2 p.m. at the School of Music. Cora Lutt and JD Edwards are a powerhouse duo from the prairies. Their songs about love and loss are delivered with soaring interwoven vocals. Their performances are heartwarming and truly Canadian. Tickets are $30 online at the PHMS website, Harbour Insurance and Strait Music.  

I want to give you the heads up on another fantastic duo, Blue Moon Marquee, is coming Sunday, May 21. They are so hot, so good and recent winners of four Maple Blues awards! This duo is going global. $30 online at the PHMs website. 

The Women’s Connection Valentine Party and 24th Anniversary was a fine celebration. At the next gathering, Feb. 28, they welcome guest speaker local artist Kevin Wells. Known for his beautiful landscapes and portraits, Kevin will share how he uses various painting mediums to create works that are startingly realistic or subtlety abstract. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. at the School of Music. Drop-in fee $4. 

Bingo! Yes, Pender Harbour Community Club Bingo is back Thursday, March 2. The tireless superwoman Sunny Charbonneau has everything in place for an exciting new season of fun and games. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. at the PH Community Hall. Early Bird game is at 6:30 p.m. with regular games starting at 7 p.m. The 50 Number jackpot is $1,000! To be won that night.  

   Blue Western Dinner & Dance is just a week away at Madeira Park Legion. Time to dust of your boots and dancing shoes and practice those moves. Dinner, is at 6 p.m. Dance starts at 7:30  until 11 p.m.. Ticket are $30 per person, available at the Legion or Harbour Insurance. 

Income Tax time! Do you need help with your income tax preparation? The Volunteer Income Tax Program will be available March 1 to April 30 in Pender Harbour. This is a free service for eligible clients. Three options are available: walk in clinics at the community school and health centre, drop off (same locations) and by appointment. For an appointment, phone Harry at 604-741-5132.
