Halfmoon Happenings

Halfmoon Bay

Highly recommended this weekend is the Sargeant Bay Society sponsored Triangle Lake botany hike.

Join local botany expert Kye Goodwin leaving at 10 a.m. this Sunday, July 6 from the south parking lot at Trout Lake. Explore the unique plant life around Triangle Lake. Walk begins and ends at Trout Lake. The route will include the loop trail through remnants of old-growth forest on the south side of the lake.

Consider this a “moderate” hike; appropriate sturdy footwear is advised.

For more information contact Elise Rudland [email protected].

The Halfmoon Bay branch of St Mary's Hospital/Health Care Auxiliary would like to give a big thank you to all who came out and supported the Friends and Neighbours Garden Tour and a special thanks to all the sponsors for their generous donations of supplies and prizes. Thank you to all our garden hosts and the artists who gave so generously of their time and efforts. The auxiliary made more than $4,000 for the continued fundraising for St. Mary's Hospital.

Special congratulations to the draw prize winners: Sage (begonia planter), Martina (gift certificate), Claire (hose nozzles and gift certificate), Mary (gift certificate), Linda (book and garden markers), Shannon (gift certificate), Tom (gift certificate), Deborah (barbecue smoker set and barbecue forks), Ev (tableware items and vase) and Darlene (gift certificate).

If you have questions regarding the Halfmoon Bay official community plan, Halfmoon Bay director Garry Nohr will make himself available Tuesdays at 9:15 a.m. at the Welcome Woods Market and at 10 a.m. on Fridays at the Halfmoon Bay Café. “They can address their concerns to me,” he said. “I’ll be there all summer, as much as I can.”

Halfmoon Bay residents should have received their copy of the Community School News and details of the Country Fair.

There are still a few vendor spots available for July 13, so contact me at [email protected] for more information. And we also need a few more bakers to make cakes for the cake walk.
