Mark your calendars and gather your teams. Next Saturday, Nov. 2 brings the sixth annual Trivia Night, and a chance to test your skills against 19 other teams for the coveted Renaissance Cup.

Teams consist of eight players, but participants can enter either as a team or as individuals. There is a place for everyone. The game involves teams competing against all others by answering questions much as in the famous board game. But while it is simple enough, as the scores rack up, the competitive instinct ramps up.

Between rounds, there are games, raffles, and draws with all sorts of great prizes donated by local businesses that also support the fund-raising by sponsoring tables and rounds of questions. Ticket price includes snacks, a light repast and coffee and tea. A cash bar will be available.

The event is organized by A Helping Paw Animal Welfare Fund in support of spay and neuter programs for companion animals on the Sunshine Coast. With the help of local businesses and support from the players, in the last two years this charity has donated $11,000 to Happy Cat Haven and Pawprints Animal Rescue.

The games take place at the Sechelt Seniors Centre. Doors open at 6:15 and play begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20, available in Sechelt at One 0 One Office Supply, and in Gibsons at Quality Garden and Pet.
