Last week in fastpitch was full of action, with several exciting matchups across the league.

On Wednesday night at Brothers Park, the league-leading Raiders faced off against the Barons. The Raiders made good use of the fence, with Mitch, Joe and Keynon each launching home runs. The Barons did not go quietly though, with Terry nearly clearing the fence and Lee lacing a solid double into the gap. On the mound, Therin delivered a dominant performance with 10 strikeouts, powering the Raiders to a 14–5 win.

The game of the week, however, came Friday night when the Bears squared off against Lon’s Gun Show. While the play on the field was solid, it was the crowd that truly made the night memorable. The electric atmosphere seemed to fuel the pitchers, with Taylor Hanchar starting strong for Lon’s and Mark Stewart matching him pitch-for-pitch for the Bears. Kyle Trousdale took over for the Bears and kept the duel going, until Liam Allen broke things open in the sixth with a three-run blast, helping Lon’s secure a 9–2 victory.

On Monday, all teams were back in action. Custom took on the Raiders, while the Bears had a rematch against Lon’s Gun Show.

In the Custom game, Josh put on a show, starting with a solo home run in the second inning and following it up with two more later in the game. He also held a no-hitter into the fourth before the Raiders’ bats came alive. Darren Watson added to the offense with a deep shot to centre, and Weepy came in late to close things out and earn the save.

Meanwhile, in the Bears vs. Lon’s rematch, Lon’s jumped out to an early 3–0 lead thanks to some walks, but the Bears answered right back in the second, capitalizing on some free bases of their own to take a 5–3 lead. They held onto that lead until the sixth, when clutch hits from Nate Deboer and Shane Heuring helped Lon’s storm back for an 11–8 win.

Fastpitch continues this week with games on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at Brothers Park, and an additional game Friday night at Hackett. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m., come out and catch the action.
