Next Wednesday, Sept 11, the Farm Gate Market in Robert's Creek will join markets around B.C. in celebrating Farmer Appreciation Week.

The fourth annual event, from 3 to 6 p.m., aims to give thanks to farmers, their farms and food while also raising awareness about issues facing the province's agriculture sector.

Along with the regular organic abundance of produce, baked goods, eggs, honey, plants, seeds, live music and treats that market goers have come to enjoy, there will be guest speakers, games, a corn roast and barbecue, prizes and more. There will also be a silk screen station to print your own Farm Gate shirt, so bring a favourite piece of clothing.

Now in its fifth year, the Farm Gate Market is one of the only all food markets in B.C. and all the food is local and organic.

"Our vendor's are what keep people coming back," said market manager Billy Hume. "Their friendliness, knowledge and beautiful products are a result of hard work, beautiful weather and the support of a great community."
