Area B, Halfmoon Bay and Area D, Roberts Creek will be the only Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) jurisdictions where ballots will be cast for area director in the Oct 15 local government elections.

There are four people whose names may appear on the Oct. 15 ballot

The Sechelt resident and father of three would be a new face on the school board

Other candidates who have filed nomination papers for the three Area 2 seats are incumbents Amanda Amaral and Maria Hampvent.

Incumbent Annemarie De Andrade, 2018 mayoral hopeful Blake Macleod and rookie candidate Des Delaney will seek Gibsons council seats in the Oct. 15 local government elections.

The B.C. local government and school board elections are scheduled for October 15.

The slate includes Briar Teal Hartwell, Maria Hampvent and Tracy Johannson Uchida 

Lumley’s Aug. 24 statement identified him as the first person to declare candidacy for the Town’s four councillor positions. In 2018, he was re-elected to council with 963 votes.

When asked what motivated him to consider running in the Oct. 15 local government elections, Backs commented “In the last few months I have canvased many that I hoped would run for the position and found no takers. Through all that time I was greeted with pleas that I should put my name forward."
