The latest candidate to join prospective trustees for the Sunshine Coast School District No. 46 (SD46) school board is newcomer Ric Leskie.

After filing his nomination form, Leskie told Coast Reporter via email that this marks his first time running as a school board trustee.

Leskie moved to Sechelt in 2010 with Liana, his wife, and their three children. Since 2013, Leskie has owned and managed the Sweet Shoppe candy store and cafe in Trail Bay centre.

“If I am successful in becoming elected, I am looking forward to helping continue the great work done by current and past trustees. I hope to lend my skills in problem solving, working through ideas with thoughtful conversation, and being an open-minded, flexible community member. I am eager to work with a diverse group of people to keep building safe, caring, and inclusive spaces for our students,” he said.

Leskie is running for one of the three trustee positions representing Area 2, the Central Coast.
