Just in time for the weekend, the Sunshine Coast Regional District reopened Roberts Creek's Cliff Gilker Park Friday.

The district closed the park Wednesday as waterways swelled from heavy rains.

"Parks staff have been at the park all morning conducting bridge and trail condition assessments. All are deemed safe to be reopened to the public," SCRD communications manager Aidan Buckley told Coast Reporter in an email.

Environment and Climate Change Canada's Sechelt weather station reported 70.5mm of precipitation on Wednesday alone, accounting for nearly half of the 149.0mm of precipitation the weather station has recorded in October so far.

Environment Canada's Port Mellon rain station on the other hand, recorded 102.5mm of precipitation on Wednesday. The station has recorded 338.0mm of precipitation so far in October, with 250.7mm of that falling from Oct. 13 to 19.

Coast Reporter's Weatherhood station in Sechelt forecasts highs of 15C and 14C with little rain for the weekend, with the probability of rainfall picking up mid-way through next week.
