Skaters get tips from renowned judge

A renowned figure skating judge, Susan Heffernan, was on the Coast Oct. 28, holding Autumn Assessments with the Sunshine Coast Skating Club’s STAR/competitive/adult skaters.

Skaters performed elements and solo routines for the judge and received feedback and a certificate. With no competition or test days being held at this time, it was a great event for the club’s skaters, with lots of positive feedback from a knowledgeable and experienced world level judge.

The club received permission from the BC/YK Skate Canada provincial body to hold the assessments with the judge. The club is also following closely the protocols of Skate Canada, BC/YK section, ViaSport and the corresponding rules within the B.C. provincial health order. Being an individual classified sport, skaters are able to social distance and perform daily health screenings while training within their cohort groups.
