Skater of the Month

John Mailey is the Skater of the Month for October. John is 13 years old and attends Grade 8 at Chatelech Secondary School. The thing John says he loves about skating is going fast and doing tricks. His favourite part about skating is gearing up for competition, then competing, and hopefully winning. When John is not skating, he likes to skateboard, drive around the backyard, biking, and go quading with friends. John’s professional coaches, Lesleigh Farr and Daryl Austman, say John is a committed skater who will compete in Juvenile Men Nov. 8 at BC Section Super Series in Coquitlam. “John participates in all dryland and on-ice components of training. He attended the Program Assistant training for Canskate and gives back by helping the younger skaters in the Canskate program twice a week,” the coaches say. “His improved work ethic, focus and development have allowed him to take the leap into the competitive stream. Looking forward to a great season. Keep up the good work!”
