Twenty-one members from two Lower Mainland Jiu Jitsu schools, including Gibsons Gracie Jiu Jitsu, were in attendance at a recent seminar in Seattle. Instructor Shawn Phillips and purple belt Gordon Stromkins participated in three seminars over two days put on by the renowned Gracie brothers, Rener and Ryron. Joined by over 100 people from around the world, the event was held at the Justice training center in Burien. The topics ranged from technical proficiency to how to stay on the mat well into our later years. Instructor Phillips said, “Our goal is to be able to continue to train safely and enjoyably for as long as possible. Done properly, we can train well into our 70s and 80s.”
