There’s good news for walkers, runners, parents, toddlers and dog walkers who frequent Friendship Park and Trail Bay Pier — the refresh to the park washroom should be completed within the month, says Lindsay Vickers, District of Sechelt communications manager.
Luckily, as part of the project, a portable washroom was installed at Friendship Park in case of emergency. The park is located at the end of Wharf Avenue near the seawall.
Vickers noted next on the refresh list is the washroom at Davis Bay, but that project is not scheduled to get started until the fall.
The refresh to the Friendship Park washroom includes, stainless steel, vandal-resistant features, new lights, new floor membrane (more sanitary and better smelling), new doors, fresh paint, new gutter and roof clean up.
Friendship Park stands adjacent to shíshálh Nation land and the accessible playground on it was built by the Rotary Club of the Sunshine Coast–Sechelt. The District of Sechelt later took over responsibility for the playground.
