Editor: Ben Ingram in his Views column greets us with Happy Holidays. In case you had not noticed, it's Christmas, regardless of race, colour or creed.

Editor: We don't need a so-called smart meter to tell us how much energy we're using. Being mindful, we only use what we need and turn off what we don't.

The following letter was sent to Santa Claus and copied to Coast Reporter for publication. Dear Santa: On behalf of all the motorists in Gibsons, thank you, thank you. Well sort of.

Editor: Along with other readers of Coast Reporter, I am disgusted at the price of gas on the Coast. I suggest that if you can't get off the Coast to be able to fill up, as many of us are unable to, just buy $5 or $10 at a time.

It would appear, judging by the number of near misses with pedestrians lately, that Sunshine Coast motorists are in bad need of remedial driving lessons.

Editor: In the Year in Review in last week's Coast Reporter, there was a photo of Vicki Starfire and her dog Sammie.

Your sports Year in Review managed to cover a great swath of athletic achievement made by residents of the Sunshine Coast, so great it seemed that any limb straying near enough a ball or net or field had a bullet point in your feature.

The winds of change blew up and down the Sunshine Coast last Saturday night as Coast residents made their voices heard during the municipal election. The biggest change saw four-term incumbent mayor Barry Janyk defeated at the hands of Wayne Rowe.

Last weekend on election day, as I sat in the glow of a backyard campfire with some visiting comrades from Vancouver, I couldn't help but take notice of the things they were saying about our beloved Coast.

Well, residents of the Sunshine Coast, here we are - one day to go before D-day.
