I was frankly shocked at how many vehicles sat idling in the Langdale ferry terminal on Monday afternoon. Yes, it was warm but certainly not so hot as to make the wait unbearable on the tarmac. Several of these vehicles had by all appearances young and able-bodied occupants. How they thought it was acceptable to idle their vehicle for 1.5 hours so they could indulge air-conditioning is a complete mystery to me. Why the terminal staff wouldn’t be monitoring for such things is a mystery as well. Also, would it kill you smokers to take your habit to designated smoking areas? Believe me, your second-hand smoke does nothing for world peace.
