To all our first responders and 911 dispatchers, I want to give you my deepest thanks for saving my life on July 28, when I had my accident. Words fail me and my emotions overtake me when I think of that evening. I was sure that I was going to die, and I would have, but for the actions of my wife, Bev, the 911 dispatchers, the Ambulance crew, the Sechelt Fire Department, the Air Ambulance crew, Vancouver General’s marvellous Emergency Department and, finally, Dr. Erin Brown and his group at VGH. It was a like an army of extremely competent specialists who arrived at my house, stabilized me and whisked me away for expert treatment. Each group was extremely well coordinated, kind, and helpful. To me it was a well-choreographed, surreal experience, as I gradually started to believe that I would live.
The recovery treatment in VGH under the direction of Dr. Brown was excellent. I am now back home recuperating, contemplating life without a left hand, but looking forward to learning a new way of life.
Because of your actions and skills, I am still here.
I THANK YOU with all my being. You are all my HEROES!
This shows what excellent cooperative services we have here on the Coast to save lives. I will be forever grateful.
