So, it’s the Year of the Monkey. Good. Our Coast could do with a little more monkey business, in my opinion. Each of us could do something irrational, like forgive an enemy. Or commit a random act of reconciliation. Give a foe a second chance. Act against the grain of a long-standing grudge. Maybe patronize a local business, which, for whatever reason, we may have blacklisted. Whatever seems creatively and constructively absurd.
As a monkey myself, I’m “stubborn, snobbish, and suspicious.” I’m also a “curious and sociable motivator.” Let this letter, then, be my first random act of monkey business toward making my town a more dynamic and unpredictable place.
